Professor CO Alebiosu is a Professor of Nephrology, with interest in Hypertension and Diabetic kidney disease. He had his Fellowship degree of the West African College of Physicians in 1999. He had his BSc & MBChB degrees from the Obafemi Awolowo University (1978-1985) and his postgraduate medical training at the University College Hospital, Ibadan (1999). He is the immediate past Provost (August 1 2019 – July 2023 August) of the College of Health Sciences, Osun State University a post he had held previously in 2010-2016, as well as the Dean of the Postgraduate College in 2017/2018.
He was the Chairman, Health Research and Ethics Committee of the College of Health Sciences, Osun State University (2011 - 2016).
In 2018, he was a Visiting Professor under the office of Global Health (Yale University), and worked at the Liberian College of Physicians and Surgery. He is a peer reviewer to over 15 local and international medical journals and was an executive member of Nigeria Association of Nephrology.
He had won competitive fellowship awards including:
a. World Diabetes Federation Fellowship (WDF) / IDF Fellowship Award, South Africa, (2003)
b. International Society of Peritoneal dialysis Fellowship, South Africa (2005)
c. IDF-BRIDGES Translational Research Course Training award, Ghana, (2008).
Research Grants
He also won some research grants sponsored by the WDF in Nigeria including WDF 08-321, 2008 - 2012; WDF10-515, 2010-2014; and WDF-I16-1345-2017.
He was the principal investigator of the Research Grant Project awarded by the Competitive Agricultural Research Grant Scheme of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) - RFA 5 No. 33, in collaboration with the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Idi Ayunre, Ibadan (2011-2014); as well as the Federal Government of Nigeria Education Trust Fund sponsored Research Project in 2011.
