UNIMED VIRTUAL CANDIDATE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Please ensure your computer and examination environment satisfy the following requirements before your scheduled examination.

Hardware Requirements

1. Computer
  • Laptop or desktop computer (Tablets and smartphones are NOT supported).
  • Minimum: Intel Core i3 / AMD Ryzen 3 (or Apple M1), 4GB RAM.
  • Recommended: Intel Core i5 / AMD Ryzen 5, 8GB RAM.
  • Minimum screen resolution: 1280 × 720.
2. Webcam
  • Built-in or external USB webcam.
  • Minimum resolution: 720p (1280 × 720).
  • Must clearly show your face and upper body.
  • Camera must remain ON throughout the examination.
3. Microphone
  • Built-in or external microphone.
  • Must be functional.
  • Headsets with microphone are acceptable.
  • Wireless earbuds (AirPods etc.) are not recommended.
4. Lighting
  • Your face must be clearly visible.
  • Avoid sitting with a bright window behind you.
  • A desk lamp or overhead light is recommended.

  • Mobile hotspot is permitted but not recommended.
  • Disconnect any VPN before and during the examination.
  • Pause streaming, downloads and other heavy internet usage.

Examination Environment

  • Take the examination in a quiet private room.
  • No other person should be present.
  • Desk must be clear of books, phones, papers and extra monitors.
  • Only your computer and charger should be on the desk.
  • Keep your Government-issued NIN (coloured copy) or International Passport ready for identity verification.
  • Keep your charger connected throughout the examination.

Mobile Phone (Second Camera) Requirement

Important: This examination requires a second camera from your mobile phone, giving the proctor a full view of you and your workspace. You will be prompted to connect it during the examination. Keep your phone fully charged and ready.

NOTE: This is different from the computer you will use for your examination.
Phone Requirement Setup
  • Sit with your back against a wall, or place your chair against the wall.
  • The wall behind you must have no window.
  • You must be alone in the room. No other person should be present.
  • The room must be well lit, with your face clearly visible.

Connection Stable Wi-Fi. The phone must remain online throughout the examination.
Phone Stand Phone stand, tripod or stack of books to keep the phone steady.
Power Keep the phone plugged into a charger or power bank throughout the examination.
How To Connect
  1. When prompted, a QR code will appear on your computer screen.
  2. Open your phone's camera app and point it at the QR code.
  3. Tap the link to open the second-camera page. No login is required.
  4. Allow camera and microphone access when prompted.
  5. A red LIVE indicator confirms the connection. Leave the page open.
Phone Positioning
  • Place the phone in front of you facing you.
  • Ensure the camera captures your face, hands, desk, underneath the desk and the wall behind you.
  • Use a phone stand or tripod to keep it steady.
  • Keep the phone in landscape (horizontal) orientation.
During The Examination
  • Keep the phone screen ON, unlocked and connected to power.
  • Enable Do Not Disturb or use Airplane Mode + Wi-Fi.
  • Do not lock the phone, switch apps, close the browser tab or touch the phone after connecting.
  • The second camera must remain connected from the beginning to the end of the examination.

What To Do Before Examination Day

  1. Carry out system check at https://vexam.unimed.edu.ng/system-check.
  2. Login to the UNIMED Proctored Examination System and complete the scheduled mock examination.
  3. Close all unnecessary applications and browser tabs.
  4. Enable "Do Not Disturb" mode or disable notifications.
  5. Fully charge your laptop and keep the charger plugged in.
  6. Keep your identification document within reach.
Important: Failure to meet these requirements may affect your ability to participate successfully in the online examination.
