I am excited to welcome you to the Department of Physiotherapy of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, Nigeria. The Department offers competitive and global level undergraduate programme by a well-seasoned team of faculties of international repute. The curriculum for our training programme was designed to be better than what obtains in other institutions in the country, so the Department can be reckoned as a national and international centre of excellence in rehabilitation research and practice.
In line with the vision of the University, our students are groomed to be worthy in learning and character, even as they evolve as practitioners who are competent in the preventive, promotive, therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects of physiotherapy. Through our harmonized class-clinic approach, our students are exposed to a wide spectrum of physiotherapy techniques and interventions, as well as a variety of disease, disorders, dysfunction and disability affecting the young and the old which are amenable to physiotherapy.
While, the Department gets set to commence postgraduate training, the faculties in the Department are engaged in a wide array of research that bother on disability and health, physical activity, recreation and sports rehabilitation, communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as health systems and policy for rehabilitation services. Currently, the Department is networking with some national and international institutions for capacity strengthening initiatives, as well as future interchange and exchange programmes for staff and students.
The Department is suitably positioned as a world class centre for physiotherapy education in Nigeria. So permit on this note, to welcomes all prospective students and potento the Department of Physiotherapy, University of Medical Sciences.

OBJECTIVES
To be a nationally and internationally recognized centre of excellence in the training of physiotherapy students who will be sufficiently empowered to;
i) Provide physiotherapeutic services in the health care sector and the community;
ii) Carry out quality research and developmental activities as a means to promote knowledge, patients’ care and professional enhancement;
iii) Acquire, develop and maintain rapport with professional colleagues, patients, their relatives and members of the health care team; and
iv) Acquire knowledge in health policies, health management, global health issues and socio-cultural health issues.
