SIWES is designed to have the following specific training objectives:

ü  To provide students with an opportunity to apply knowledge in real work situation thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice;

ü  To expose students to the industrial work situation;

ü  To familiarize students to the needed experience in handling equipment and machinery;

ü  To enlist and strengthen employers involvement in the entire educational process and prepare students for employment after graduation; and

ü  To make the transition from school to the world of work easier and enhance students’ contacts for later job placement.
