UNIMED Champions Health Innovation with Landmark Bio-Synergy Conference

The University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, through its Department of Physiology, in collaboration with The Physiological Society, successfully hosted a two-day conference titled “Bio-Synergy: Integrating Physiological Research and Advanced Technologies for a Healthier Nation."

The conference, held from March 25 to 26, 2026, at the TETFund Hall, Laje Campus, brought together scholars, researchers, and healthcare professionals to explore innovative approaches to improving health outcomes.

In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebunoluwa Aderonke Adejuyigbe, described the conference as timely and impactful, noting that it reflected the University’s commitment to advancing scientific research and leveraging emerging technologies for sustainable healthcare solutions.

The Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee, Dr. V. Emojewve, emphasized the need to integrate physiological knowledge with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and genomic tools to enhance diagnostics and strengthen health systems.

Similarly, the Head of Department, Dr. Eunice Ogunwole, stated that the conference, which coincided with the 150th anniversary of The Physiological Society, highlighted global scientific resilience and collaboration.

In his keynote address, Chukwuemeka Nwokocha noted that artificial intelligence is transforming drug discovery through predictive and mechanism-based research. Also, Mega Obukohwo Oyovwi emphasized the role of integrated data systems and technology in achieving preventive healthcare. The conference featured workshops, oral and poster presentations, with awards presented for outstanding contributions. The event concluded with a renewed commitment to collaboration and innovation in advancing national health development.
