Okunlola, Oluyemi Adewole is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, Nigeria. He is a quantitative epidemiologist with core expertise in spatial epidemiology, applying spatial statistics to address public health challenges and support evidence-based policy formulation, particularly in low-resource settings. His research interests include disease risk mapping, spatial modelling of health outcomes, and integrating environmental and socioeconomic determinants for targeted public health interventions. He earned his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Statistics from Nigeria’s premier university, the University of Ibadan, in 2010 and 2013, respectively, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Statistics. He began his career as a data analyst at a private research firm, where he advanced to Chief Analyst. In 2016, he joined UNIMED as a Senior Academic Planning Officer in the Academic Planning Division, while also volunteering as an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences. Driven by a strong passion for teaching and research, he transitioned from non-teaching staff to a full faculty appointment on September 1, 2020. Okunlola is a Senior Research Collaborator at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington, USA, contributing to global health metrics and disease burden studies. He is the lead author of a paper presented at the International Conference on Teaching Statistics held in Argentina, where his work was recognized as the Best Paper from Developing Countries. He is a TETFund research scholar and a beneficiary of an international conference sponsorship. He has authored and co-authored 26 peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals indexed in Scopus, WOS and PUBMED. He is widely regarded as a celebrated and inspiring lecturer, admired by students and colleagues for his clarity of instruction, mentorship, and commitment to academic excellence.
