The Faculty of Natural Science is one of the pioneering faculties of Nigeria’s first University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo City, Nigeria. Congratulations on choosing this Faculty, the bedrock of Medicine and related health disciplines with the vision of providing students and staff with an enabling environment and resources to exploit their potentials through teaching, learning, and research.

I am pleased to reveal that we support four departments with six academic programs which include the Department of Biological Sciences (Animal and Environmental Science, Microbiology and Plant Biology and Biotechnology), Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics (Physics Electronics). The Faculty of Science offers a 4-year program leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree. Also, all the undergraduate students that are admitted into this University pass through the science departments during their first year of study.

As the Dean of Science, I wish to foster learning and interdisciplinary collaboration amongst various disciplines within and outside the Faculty. This goal involves implementing a holistic approach towards the understanding and solving of critical research questions of national and medical importance in a world where the pace of scientific and technological development continues to increase dramatically. This development will aid in nurturing, educating, and preparing undergraduate students for their future role as leading scientists capable of facing critical challenges in the 21st century.

The Faculty has undergone considerable development in terms of capacity building, starting from the guidance of our pioneering Dean, Prof. A. M. Arogunjo who served diligently in this position from November 2015 to July 2018, before I took over the leadership of this Faculty on August 1, 2018.

Please join us as we lead you through an exciting and innovative scientific experience at the Faculty of Science.

Cordially,

Prof. Omoba Olufunmilayo Sade B.Sc., M.Tech., Ph.D
