Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences

You are welcome to the official webpage of the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences at the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo City, Nigeria – the first Specialized Medical University in Nigeria. Our Faculty started in June 2017 with Prof. Micheal Simidele Odimayo as pioneer Dean and other competent, scholarly, proficient, team-spirited and result-oriented Academic as well as Non-academic (Laboratory and Administrative) staff as members. The Faculty has a teaching and research laboratories sufficient for the training of our students. Our Faculty has attracted 21 lecturers, (9 of which are Professors, 2 Senior Lecturers, 8 Lecturer 1 and 1 Lecturer 11). We also have 27 Technical staff and 7 Administrative Staff.

The Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences provides the first level clinical experience in medicine; which consists of five academic departments - Anatomic Pathology (Morbid Anatomy and Histopathology), Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Microbial Pathology (Medical Microbiology and Parasitological) and Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

We have developed a medical education curriculum that is presently accredited by the National Universities Commission. The first cohort of students admitted to our medical program will graduate next year to contribute to the development of the healthcare system in Nigeria. Our teaching laboratories are well equipped, and we have state-of-the-art audiovisuals in our classrooms and a well-equipped library.  We have excellent and spacious offices to enhance the effectiveness of our dedicated faculty and staff.
