Mr. Odor Emmanuel Ikong was born into the Family of Mr. and Mrs. Ikong on October 3, 1995, in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. He is married to Mrs. Odor Blessing, and the union is blessed with one child. He joined the services of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in August 2022 as a Patrolman 1, and was redesignated to Student Affairs as a Senior Hall Porter in June 2026. He is an environmental biologist and toxicologist with research interests in heavy metal contamination, microplastics, and environmental health risk assessment in West African ecosystems. He holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Biology and Toxicology (Distinction) from the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) and a B.Sc. in Zoology and Environmental Biology from the University of Calabar. He is currently a PhD researcher at UNIMED under the supervision of Dr. P.G. Ayeku, Head of the Department of Biosciences and Biotechnology. His current doctoral work investigates microplastics as vectors for heavy metal transport (“Trojan Horse” dynamics) in West African soils, alongside ongoing research on cadmium and lead co-exposure and plant-based interventions in diabetic models. He has a manuscript under peer review at Environmental Pollution (Elsevier) on "Characterization and public health threats of inhaling microplastics in settled dust within proximity to plastic-related anthropogenic activities in South-Western Nigeria". Mr. Odor is proficient in ICP-MS, ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, Monte Carlo simulation for probabilistic health risk assessment, and bibliometric analysis tools including VOSviewer.
